Update · AI search / 3 MIN READ

AI Search now has a clearer baseline. It still needs a business question.

Google expanded Search Console insights and site-owner controls on August 31. Here is what the new view can answer—and what it cannot.

THE DECISION IN 30 SECONDS

ACT: compare a small set of service pages with the announced Google AI-feature insights. WATCH the resulting baseline; an impression is not a citation, qualified enquiry or sale.

What is checked

Google’s June 3 announcement was updated on August 31 to say AI-feature controls and Search Console insights had rolled out to all websites worldwide. This is a source review, not a test in a client Search Console account.

What this cannot prove

The announcement does not establish that a given page will appear, receive clicks or produce customers. We have not measured a change in VKV Studio or client traffic from this rollout.

01

The August update made the question more concrete

01 / PAGES / MARKETSAn editorial illustration of pages and markets, not a Search Console report or measured coverage.

Google’s June announcement was updated on August 31 to describe worldwide rollout of AI-feature insights and site-owner controls. The announced view covers impressions, pages and countries; the control concerns whether a site may appear or ground the affected AI features.

That update date is not the original announcement date. This is a source analysis, not a test in a customer’s Search Console account. Availability described by Google does not establish that a particular service page appears.

02

An appearance is not a customer

02 / APPEARANCE / ENQUIRYA conceptual separation: appearing in view does not establish that a customer made an enquiry.

Consider a supplier whose guide appears for an informational question while its service page does not explain scope clearly. The impression is a reason to inspect those pages, not proof of buyer intent or return on advertising spend. The example is an editorial hypothesis, not a measured client case.

Keep Google’s reporting separate from observations in other assistants and from enquiries. Google describes the AI-use control as affecting the corresponding traffic and impressions, rather than an ordinary ranking lever outside those features. Choose a control for a documented business reason.

03

A useful thirty-minute review

03 / TWO INVESTIGATIONSA blank review method: investigate crawlable content and the offer-to-contact path separately.

ACT by listing your important service pages, selecting a country and date range, and saving the initial report. Compare what each visible page explains with the questions your buyers ask. Record missing data instead of filling it with an estimated benefit.

For France, Sweden, Finland, the UK, the US or Slovenia, use the actual market and query language rather than assuming English covers every buyer. WATCH changes against the same baseline and qualified-enquiry definition. PASS on treating worldwide feature rollout as worldwide demand for your service.

APPLY THE METHOD TO YOUR BUSINESS

A useful answer starts with your own evidence.

The GEO audit uses public sources to define a query, page and market baseline. Reviewing your own Search Console report is an optional separate step; account access or private report analysis is not included in that public-only package. No assistant placement or sales lift is promised.
